Before adoption
Licensed vet exam, vaccinations and deworming for age, parent health testing and records prepared.
What we promise about your puppy's health, in plain language and in writing.
Our commitment
Each puppy is examined by a licensed veterinarian before adoption, is up to date on vaccinations and deworming for their age, and goes home with the written records so your own vet can carry on from there. The parents' cardiac, von Willebrand's and hip results go home in the same folder.
Dilated cardiomyopathy is the single most serious health problem in this breed, and it is the reason we will not breed an untested dog. Both parents are screened by echocardiogram and 24-hour Holter monitor, DNA tested for von Willebrand's disease, and have their hips evaluated. You receive copies of all of it, and we are happy to talk any of it through with you or your vet.
We check general condition, weight, teeth, eyes, ears, heart and movement, confirm the vaccination and deworming schedule for age, and put the paperwork together. Nothing goes home before that is done.
Book that first vet visit before your puppy comes home, not after. It satisfies the seven day requirement, gives you an independent opinion, and lets your vet plan the rest of the vaccination schedule from the records we provide.
